## GM1 38 (g) Runway surface condition

The [runway](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/runway) surface conditions used in the [runway condition report (RCR)](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/runway-condition-report) establish a common language between the [aerodrome operator](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/aerodrome-operator), the [aeroplane](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/aeroplane) manufacturer and the aeroplane [operator](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/operator).

[Aircraft](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/aircraft) de-icing chemicals and other contaminants are also reported but are not included in the list of [runway surface condition descriptors](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/runway-surface-condition-descriptors) because their effect on the runway [surface friction](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/surface-friction) characteristics and the RWYCC cannot be evaluated in a standardised manner.
