## GM1 ADR-DSN.B.080 Transverse slopes on runways

The slopes on a [runway](https://avioverse.aero/glossary/easa/runway) are intended to prevent the accumulation of water (or possible fluid contaminant) on the surface and to facilitate rapid drainage of surface water (or possible fluid contaminant). The water (or possible fluid contaminant) evacuation is facilitated by an adequate combination of longitudinal and transverse slopes, and may also be assisted by grooving the runway surface.
